General Anthurium Care

Our growing conditions & fertilizer routine:

• All of our seedlings are grown from seed not tissue culture
• We germinate our seeds in aroid mix and introduce fertilizer even at this early stage
• Our grow space averages 65-80 degrees F throughout the year
• Average humidity in our grow space is 65-85%
• Our fertilizer routine consists of Stout MSA, MaxSea, Super Thrive Foliage Pro & CalMag in pH balanced water used for every watering
• Every couple months we “flush” our plants with plain water to help prevent mineral salt build-up which can discolor leaves

Seedling Care Tips:

• We recommend keeping your seed or seedling in a humidity dome or high humidity environment while it adjusts to your conditions.
• Recommended temperature: 70-80 degrees F
• Recommended humidity: 65% minimum
• Very bright, indirect natural light or 8-10 hours of grow lights a day

Aroid Mix Recipe

30% coco coir
40% fine perlite
10% coco croutons
10% fine orchid bark
5% horticultural charcoal

5% worm castings

A few Plant Baybe secrets:

• we love adding handfuls of ground cinnamon to our mix. It’s an amazing natural pesticide, fungicide, and antibacterial agent. Plus it smells ah-ma-zing!

• When bringing new plants into our grow space, we also add systemic granules directly to the soil. This will help protect your entire collection against any pests that may have traveled with your new plants

• for larger plants in 8” pots and larger, we start to add large chunks of orchid bark to accommodate the larger roots.

• every now and then, we’ll add whatever extra substrate we have laying around to the mix. Tree fern, leca, pon, bits of spaghnum moss, even stratum
